ABOUT INTELLIGENT

INTELLIGENT is established in the year of 1997, it has promoted the education of Abacus & Mental-Arithmetic with the development from a small learning centre to an Academy Mental-Arithmetic today: from promoting Abacus & Mental-Arithmetic only to the private sector to an education institution which received overwhelming responses from the parents and members of the public, but also recognition from the official authorities. In 2007, we also officially become the council member of the World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic in China (WAAMA ASSOCIATION).

During these years, we have put in continual effort in improving our course content to accommodate the local standard of Abacus & Mental-Arithmetic. Our course instructors are striving days and nights in order to acquire effective teaching methods so that our students are being taught with the best teaching methods and learn effectively.

Intelligent Mental-Arithmetic course enables a child to develop both his left and right brains by adopting "Both-Hand Abacus Mental-Arithmetic" teaching method. By using the left and right hands to compute at the same time, it will produce stimulating effect for those who normally under utilize their right brains. For the schooling children, the method will be of great help to them in their ability and capability of calculation, response, concentration and memory, which in turn assist them to balance their brain power and strengthen the function of both their left and right brains. Besides, we also adopt the latest teaching method of the Mental-Arithmetic is the application of "Non-Formula", "Hidden Skill" and "Digital Practice", the learning speed which is 6 times faster than the traditional one. With this innovative method, children will be able to master the art of mental-arithmetic in a more relaxed environment without having to deal with any formula.

With our renowned abacus manipulation technique with both hands which will help both left and right brain development together with the participation of competition and examination, students will build their confidence and concentration; from imitation to agile and self motivated; from lackadaisical attitude to fond of learning; from careless to focus; from low self esteem to truthful and confidence.

INTELLIGENT Mental – Arithmetic Education Goals

The INTELLIGENTT Mental – Arithmetic education program builds the ability to calculate fast and accurately. Learners are guided to use his mental ability fully. This program will stimulate both portions of the brain, hence allowing the right brain development itself to be flexible and to think even more effectively.

As the consciousness of numbers is gradually developed in children from one and a half to two years old, concrete items should further strengthen it, so that they know their association. At this stage, concrete items work as ‘teaching aids’. Through constant exploration, practice and tries, children get the concept of numbers. The process goes from the concrete, semi – concrete to total abstract. The learning of abacus helps the understanding of natural science because it has concrete string of balls to help thinking. ‘The elevation of abacus’ means the ability to calculate by concrete balls to the invisible, imagery or formal calculation, which then reaches the level of mental arithmetic.The learning of abacus has the same process as Piaget’s and Burner’s cognitive theory, which emphasizes the mental development from the concrete to the conceptual, formal and symbolic.

Obviously, Burner’s theory, which also emphasizes the gradual development of intellect, is deeply influenced by Piaget’s stage theory. That is, comprehension and assimilation of knowledge are most important in every stage of learning. Human wisdom and potentiality can keep growing without the limit of age. In other words, it is environment that will either slow down or expedite the development of intellect.

The so – called ‘readiness’ of learning does not totally rely on physical maturity. Therefore, teachers should not waste time in waiting for the biological maturity. When children are equipped with certain knowledge, it is a great opportunity to lead them into another stage of learning. Burner therefore advocates the early inspiration of wisdom and learning, which helps unearth talent, shortens the unnecessary time of learning and accomplishes the learning goal.
